The Past Inside the Present

Cabenda's practice repeatedly returns to the connection between the past and the present. His research considers how histories of slavery and colonialism remain visible in contemporary identity, culture and social structures.

The work does not treat history as closed. Instead, it asks how decolonization remains an ongoing process of looking again, questioning inherited ideas and finding new perspectives.
